Where's Caden??

These were some cute photos I got at the boathouse on Saturday when we were there for Uncle Walker's race. We are all very proud of Uncle Walker for being accepted to the submarine community this week!!! We are also proud of Aunt Summer for deciding to attend Salisbury University next year...they'll be lucky to have her! And we are thrilled that Aunt Skylar will be closer to us next year because she just accepted a teaching job in NYC...congratulations, Aunt Skylar! We've also heard through the grapevine that Parker is racing in the varsity boat this weekend against Cornell...good luck, Uncle Parker! It's clearly been a good week for the Washburn Family!

Caden has not been sleeping great the past couple nights. I think he was awake more than he was asleep last night! Hopefully it is just his teeth that are bothering him...poor little guy. Spencer and I have been trying everything to get him to sleep better which is why the swing, the bassinet, and the crib are all in his room right now...the bouncy seat was in there at one point too. We've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter where he sleeps because he'll be up in a few short hours....or minutes. Can you find Caden in the picture above???

There he is!

Brody gave Caden his Red Sox hat to borrow and although it is a little big, it looks adorable on him! Daddy is thrilled to have another Red Sox fan in the house :)

We took Caden to Gram and Gramp's house on Sunday and Spencer helped Gramp paint while the girls and Colson hung out with the babies. Aunt Meggy got some really big smiles from Addie!

Usually when we get Caden and Addie together, they don't even realize the other one is there, but this time was way different! Caden kept looking at Addie and checking her out...it's amazing how attentive he is these days.

Grammy had so much fun playing with Caden and Axel...she is doing a great job teaching Caden how to play with the animals! I told Caden, if he is a really good boy, Gram and Gramps just might get him and Addie another furry, four legged animal...the little muchkins would have so much fun with a pony!!

Rissi is having more fun with Caden now that he can laugh and smile and she did a great job giving him his bottle...he finished the whole thing :)

Fun Weekend So Far!

Gammy, Aunt Summer, Uncle Chandler, and Uncle Kiwi came to visit this weekend and to watch Uncle Walker row at Princeton. It was so much fun to have them here and it was so nice to have all those helpful hands around! We got really spoiled with all their help-playing with Caden, walking the dogs, helping clean up...we wish we could have them here more often! I love this picture of Gammy and Caden...he is chewing on a baby carrot which was nice and cold...I think it felt good on his tooth buds! Gammy is full of good ideas for Caden :)

Uncle Kiwi really enjoyed playing with Caden and I can tell that the two of them are going to have a great time in Main together this summer!

Caden decided to take an nap on Aunt Summer's lap and seemed to really like it there! He probably would have stayed there all night if we tucked some blankets in around him, but Aunt Summer had to put him in his bouncy seat because it was dinner time...

Then Aunt Summer took really silly pictures of Caden...they were so funny we were almost in tears looking at them! Who would think distorted baby pictures would be so entertaining!?

Uncle Kiwi and Uncle Chandler were very helpful while they were here . Spencer had morning practice today which usually means I take Grace and Rig out with Caden in the Baby Bjorn but Chandler took care of all the dogs this morning...what a treat!

Uncle Kiwi did a great job washing Caden's hair both nights he was here. I'm sure Caden enjoyed having all that extra attention in the bath tub!

Caden got to go to his first crew race today with Gammy to watch Uncle Walker row. He was a trooper out in the cold weather...it was only 43 degrees today! Then we got to catch up with Daddy between practices in the boathouse which Caden obviously enjoyed :)

Fun in the Pack and Play!

Caden's bunny hat was part of the gift basket we got from Harry's mom (one of my former students). She knit it herself and the hat is cashmere and the ears are alpaca. It is beautiful and looks adorable on Caden!

It looks like Caden is actually trying to read his book in this picture...really he was just trying to figure out which part would taste best in his mouth :)

As you can see from the photos, Caden had a good time in his pack and play this afternoon! It is fun to watch him "play" with his toys. He is getting good at reaching out and grabbing things he is interested in and they usually go right in his mouth! He is doing a really good job sitting up in his Boppy...it's only a matter of time before he can sit up on his own!

Caden loves playing with Daddy in the morning before he leaves for the boathouse and when he gets home in the evening! They had lots of time together tonight because I was on duty and they'll have lots of time together tomorrow because Daddy is on baby duty until I am done teaching for the day which will be some time between 10 and 11.

4 Month Doctor Visit!

Auntie Beck came to visit last night and she couldn't believe how much Caden has grown since December. She is doing really well and we are all really excited for her as she gears up to start her new job in DC! Speaking of jobs, today was my first day back in the classroom and it went smoothly! It was great to see all my kiddies and they seemed excited to see me...although they were probably just pretending so I'll give them good grades ;) Caden spent 2 hours at Amanda's house and he was exhausted but didn't want to take a nap. It might take him a while to get used to napping somewhere else. I teach 2 classes tomorrow but lunch is between them, so I'll get to hang out with him slash nurse him during lunch.

The Peddie community has been so thoughtful and generous since Caden arrived. We got this gift basket from a student I taught last year...his mom is very talented and she made all the beautiful, and delicious, cookies! AMAZING!!

Caden is really starting to develop a relationship with Gracie and Rigger. He smiles at them when he sees them and laughs when we chase them around the house. That was Grandmom's idea and he loves it!

Caden had has 4 month doctor visit yesterday with Dr. Bob who we absolutely LOVE. Caden weighs 16 pounds, 9 ounces, and he is 25.5 inches long, between 75th-90th percentile for both. Caden has been taking medication for acid reflux for about a month and a half and Dr. Bob said he may be growing out of that so we could stop the medication for a couple days to see how he reacts. So far so good! Dr. Bob took a look inside Caden's mouth and saw his tooth buds and said, "oh yeah....they'll be here in less than a month!" Then Caden got his vaccinations :( There are 4 vaccinations so we decided to break them up and we did 2 yesterday and we'll do 2 at his 5 month visit. Caden was great and only cried for a couple minutes.

We're looking forward to having Gammy, Aunt Summer, Uncle Chandler and Uncle Kiefer visit us for a couple of days this week. They are all coming down on Thursday and will be watching Caden on Friday while Mommy and Daddy work. Then, they'll get to see Walker when he comes up to Princeton to race the Tigers. It's going to be an exciting week!

Grandma's Beautiful Baby Quilt

Grandma Ellie worked very hard to make this beautiful baby quilt for Caden. He is so lucky to have such a special gift from Grandma! It is absolutely perfect and it looks awesome in his room. Spencer still has his baby quilt from Grandma and it looks like he got a lot of use out of it; I'm sure Caden will use his just as often to keep him warm and cozy!

We had fun helping Caden try out his quilt for the first time! The inside is super soft and it's Winnie the Pooh which matches the theme in the nursery. Grandma obviously put a lot of thought into the colors and patterns she used to make the quilt...it is perfect!

This picture is for Cousin Alana and Cousin Alexander :) Alana got Caden this Penn onesie when he was born and it now fits him perfectly! Even Spencer agreed that the little man looks good in blue and red...

Caden had a busy day with Mommy and Daddy. The weather was nice so we were out for a walk with Gracie and Rigger, then we took him to Terhune Orchards to get apples and cider. After the orchard, we went to the mall to get some fun baby CDs. When we got home Ryann and Brody came over for a couple hours while Amanda and Marc went out to dinner. I'm pretty sure they had a good time...I'm basing that on the fact that Brody started screaming when Amanda got here to pick him up because we hadn't watched Toy Story yet! Caden usually gets tired and fussy around 7:00 and at that point we know to put him in his bath, and then bed. However, tonight, he was so intrigued by Ryann and Brody that he just sat and watched them all evening and then fell asleep on my lap at dinner! He has never done that before!

P.S.-the white bumps on Caden's gums seem more prominent today than they were yesterday....we see Dr. Bob tomorrow for Caden's 4 month physical, so we'll see what he says about their ETA!

Signs of Teeth.............

Friday was a warm and sunny day so we went to PA to have lunch with Grandma T., Grandma F., Aunt Jenny and Addie. It was so much fun to sit outside and eat! Grandma Ferrari was playing peek-a-boo with Caden which was making him laugh...it was so cute! However, he was not a happy camper when it was time to leave. He cried for about 30 minutes in the car on the way home :( He cheered up pretty quickly when we got home which was good because we had a bunch of friends over to grill outside. After his exciting day, he was wiped out. He went to bed at about 8:00 and was up 3 times before he was up for good at 7:30.

We are pretty sure Caden is starting to teeth. He has had random acts of fussiness over the last week or so, he's been drooling incessantly (which explains the bibs in all the photos), and there are 2 white lumps on his bottom gums. Spencer and I have done some research and it wasn't unusual for the Washburn babies to get teeth at around 3 months, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised!

For dinner tonight Spencer and I went to the Americana which is a HUGE diner here in Hightstown. Caden is officially a New Jersey-er now that he has been to a diner ;) The Americana is a very popular place and the line was almost out the door, so we sat at the counter which Caden really liked...he was cracking us up with his arm up on the counter...like a little old man! He totally looks like he is checking out Daddy's Coke in the second picture!

Caden had a late bath tonight because we got home from dinner at around 8:00, but he was in a great mood and enjoyed splashing around in his tub!
