Gettysburg

Spencer and I arrived in Gettysburg around 6:00 on Sunday, went out to dinner, then gave Caden a bath and put him in his pajamas. We then went on a Ghost Tour of Gettysburg which was almost 2 hours of ghost stories and historical facts about the Battle of Gettysburg. It was really interesting!

Caden was asleep in his stroller for a while and when he woke up took turns carrying him while he slept :)
In the morning we got some breakfast and then went to the visitors center where we watched a movie about the Battle of Gettysburg and saw the cyclorama. Then we did a self guided audio tour of the park in our car which was 20 miles long...we bought the CD if anyone visits Gettysburg and would like to borrow it!

There are thousands of canons on the battlefields, many of them still functional. Caden thought they were pretty cool!

Later in the afternoon we took a ranger led tour of the National Cemetary and we got to hear some really fascinating stories about different soldiers. Perhaps the most moving part was seeing all of the tombstones of the unknown soldiers, identified by only a number.

Caden rode in the backpack for part of the tour but then got a little fussy so we carried him and put him on the ground to play when the ranger was talking...he was happily amusing himself with a stick!

Spencer and I were talking to the ranger after the tour of the National Cemetary and he really liked Caden...he gave him his hat to wear for a picture :)
