Joint Baby Shower!

Here are a few photos from our joint baby shower at the Ferrari house. The soon-to-be Aunt Beanie, Aunt Rissi and Grandma Ferrari worked really hard getting everything ready, and I could tell they had a blast in the process...they are so excited about these babies! It was a beautiful celebration complete with not one, but two delicious cakes, two diaper cakes, and adorable favors made of diapers and filled with truffles . Grandma Washburn, Aunt Skylar and Aunt Summer were able to make it down from New England which made the shower complete :) Thank you to everyone who was able to attend, and for all of the wonderful gifts and words of encouragement!

Baby room...almost done.

With a little more than 4 weeks to go, we're now putting the finishing touches on the baby's room. It has been a long process in getting all the "necessary" things (I didn't realize that baby was going to be so needy, I know that I wasn't...), but we're just about done and more excited than ever about the new arrival.

Almost all the furniture is here and safely assembled ("safely" is a loose term, like how I loosely assembled all the pieces) and Meg has been busy washing everything...twice. The dresser is just about full, which is amazing given the tiny size of most the clothes!

As you can see, I think that Gracie is excited about what she thinks is her new room, especially the Pooh rug, which she makes a point to sleep on whenever we are in there. Rigger (sleeping on the couch in the other room) is a little less interested. In his mind, he already been displaced once by Gracie, so the arrival of the baby will be nothing new to him. At 5 years old (birthday is this Sunday), Rig is taking the mature approach to things.

All that's left now is to hang a few things on the walls and put a baby in the crib, no big deal, right?

Gone Country

The King was in Philadelphia, so we had to go!

As one of our last acts as a fun, outgoing couple, Meg and I went down to Philadelphia on Friday night to see George Strait and Reba McEntire in concert. We had a couple of great seats (8 rows back from the stage) and saw an outstanding show. It was the third time that we have seen George live and the second time that I have seen Reba (first concert ever with Dad like fifteen years ago...wow!)

Baby Washburn had a blast as well as it was constantly kicking and moving throughout the entire show! I will assume that it was dancing away and not kicking out in anger at the music. With a little luck, we'll have another country fan in the family!

Final birthing class...DONE!

Well, it would seem that we are now fully prepared to go through the birthing process. Megan and I took a birthing class (once a week for two hours over five weeks) and had our final meeting last night. It was a field trip to the maternity wing of the Princeton hospital (where we will be heading when the time comes) and very educational. We learned how to get there the long way after driving past the hospital on the first pass. In my defense, it was dark! But better to get the kinks out now, right? At least that was my explanation.

We also realized that we can't have the baby between 5-7PM because the traffic through Princeton is awful. It took us 20 minutes to go from the boathouse to the hospital, despite being only about 2.5 miles away. The multiple wrongs turns probably didn't help, but still, the traffic was brutal!

The highlight of the visit was seeing a set of twins who were one day old! If we weren't excited already, we are now counting the hours until the baby's arrival in about 6 weeks.

The baby room is coming along and we have most of the furniture put together and set up in there. We will hopefully have some pictures to post next week.

As of today, we are exactly 6 weeks from our due date! Pregnancy has been treating us well and we've both been staying busy so far this fall. Megan has her hands full with three biology classes, coaching cross country (made especially hard when you have a basketball in your belly) and running a dorm with 25 freshmen girls! Spencer's year is underway at the boathouse as they are now three weeks into the fall season and will begin racing at the end of October.

There is lots of excitement on campus as the girls in the dorm look forward to the baby's arrival in November, but no one is more excited than our puppies, Rigger and Gracie (as you can see from the picture, they are ecstatic!). They can't wait to see what has been making Meg's belly so big and Gracie can't wait to be a big sister!

Baby Shower at Amanda's

Thank you Amanda and friends for a BEAUTIFUL baby shower. We are really lucky to be part of such a great community...Baby Washburn will be surrounded by lots of love!
